Despite our rural location in the mountains, Peeper Pond Farm is easy to find, if you can use a map and follow written directions (the old fashioned way).  Unfortunately, because our farm is accessed from two private roads, your GPS-based travel device may not be able to locate us.  However, if you follow the landmarks and directions below closely, you will be able to find us without any problems.  If you do get lost, you can simply call us for help–provided your cell phone service is still working.  For your travel planning purposes, approximate driving times (under favorable travel conditions) to Peeper Pond Farm are about:

Heading South on I-81 (from Winchester, VA):

  1. Take Exit 307 for Stephens City, VA.
  2. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto VA Route 631
  3. Proceed all the way through downtown Stephens City, across the railroad tracks, and to a T-intersection.
  4. Turn left (south) onto VA Route 628.
  5. Proceed south on VA Route 628 to the intersection with VA Route 785 in Lebanon Church, VA
  6. Turn right onto VA Route 785 to the stop sign and proceed straight onto U.S. Route 48.
  7. Follow U.S. Route 48 into WV, through the village of Wardensville, WV and on until the route widens into a 4-lane divided highway (Corridor H).
  8. Continue to follow U.S. Route 48 (now Corridor H) to Moorefield, WV.
  9. Take the 2nd Moorefield exit for Downtown Moorefield/Petersburg/U.S. Route 220 – not the one for East Moorefield.
  10. Turn left at the end of the ramp and follow it down to a stop light.
  11. Turn left onto U.S. Route 220 south.
  12. Follow U.S. Route 220 through Moorefield and south to downtown Petersburg.
  13. Turn left at the stop light in Downtown Petersburg and continue south on U.S. Route 220.
  14. Continue south on U.S. Route 220 past the Pendleton County line, roughly 10.5 miles south of the Petersburg traffic light.
  15. Roughly 2.5 miles south of the Pendleton County line, look for a weathered red barn with an overhang on it close to the right side of the road.
  16. After rounding the next curve after the barn, look for the first gravel road on the right, which is Twin Maple Lane.
  17. Turn right onto Twin Maple Lane.
  18. Take the first right fork onto Rose Patch Drive and proceed up the hill.
  19. Peeper Pond Farm is the 3rd driveway on the right bearing a driveway sign that says “Goah Way.”

Heading West on I-66 from the Washington, DC area:

  1. Follow I-66 past Front Royal to the interchange with I-81.
  2. Take the left fork onto I-81 south.
  3. Bear right onto the Exit 296 for U.S. Route 48.
  4. Bear right onto U.S. Route 48 west.

Heading North/South on I-81 or West on U.S. Route 33 into Harrisonburg, WV:

  1. From I-81, take Exit 247B onto U.S. Route 33 west.
  2. If approaching I-81 from U.S. Route 33 east of Harrisonburg, continue west past I-81 on U.S Route 33.
  3. Continue to follow U.S. Route 33 west through Downtown Harrisonburg (around the courthouse square), up and over Shenandoah Mountain and the WV state line, and on to Brandywine, WV.
  4. In Brandywine village, U.S. Route 33 turns right.  Continue to follow U.S. Route 33 into Franklin, WV.
  5. At the stop light in Franklin Village, turn right onto U.S. Route 220 north.
  6. Follow U.S. Route 220 north through Upper Tract village, and past the entrance to Smoke Hole.
  7. About 2 miles north of the Smoke Hole entrance and bridge, you will see a large sign for the Brushy Run Church of God bearing an image of Jesus with his hands raised.
  8. about 1 mile north of the Brushy Run Church sign, you will come to a large sweeping curve and pass an intersection with Mozer Road on the right and Jake Hill Road on the left.
  9. Turn left onto the first gravel road (Twin Maple Lane) on your left AFTER Jake Hill Road.  It will be immediately past a small, unpainted shed.
  10. Take the first right fork onto Rose Patch Drive and proceed up the hill.
  11. Peeper Pond Farm is the 3rd driveway on the right bearing a driveway sign that says “Goah Way.”

Heading East on U.S. Route 33 from Elkins, WV:

  1. From the intersection of U.S. Routes 33 and 250 at the Minnehaha statue, proceed east on U.S. 33/WV 55 towards Harman, WV.
  2. Continue following U.S. Route 33 east over Rich Mountain, past Harmon, and over Allegheny Mountain to Seneca Rocks.
  3. At the T-intersection in Seneca Rocks, turn right following U.S. Route 33.
  4. Continue following U.S. Route 33 past Riverton, Judy Gap, and over North Fork Mountain towards Franklin.
  5. At the T-intersection just north of Franklin, turn left onto U.S. Route 220 north.
  6. Follow U.S. Route 220 north through Upper Tract village, and past the entrance to Smoke Hole.

  2. Go straight (following U.S. Route 220 north through the Downtown Franklin stop light and straight through the intersection with U.S. Route 33 north of town.
  3. Follow U.S. Route 220 north through Upper Tract village, and past the entrance to Smoke Hole.
